How about a creative family break by the Arve River in Passy? Next to the sculptures by J. Basserode, F. Lerat, and G. Friedmann, let’s come together and craft an ephemeral collection of artworks using materials we find right there.

Check out these incredible sculptures by talented artists – they’re like whispers of nature’s stories.

  1. ROULEMENT by Jérôme BASSERODE (2015) Imagine a rock, meticulously carved into pyramid-like facets from Corten steel. This material, rusted by design to brave the elements, is a testament to industrial innovation. Was this fossil shaped by glacial avalanches or sculpted by the turbulent river’s waters? If you listen closely, this rock whispers the echoes of ancient nature. BASSERODE (1958) bridges the gap between human science and nature’s boundless power.
  2. FLAQUES by Fabien LERAT (2015) Flowing river currents measure time on one side. On the other, LERAT (1960) has placed two cast-iron basins, mimicking puddles, on the riverbank. Soon, the landscape will gently touch their edges, adorned with a delicate veil of moss. These calm, stagnant waters become dreamy reflections of the mountain’s expanse, pondering our place in the world. Like fleeting moments, the puddles sculpt the earth, allowing water to seep or evaporate, dying only to be reborn.
  3. LES GARDIENS by GLORIA FRIEDMANN (2015) Witness a chamois and a bearded vulture – the mountain’s denizens – perched atop a terracotta globe, gazing toward the Arve River and the future. FRIEDMANN (1950), a blend of French and German, envisioned this totemic monument and its circular base as a haven for connection, exchange, and contemplation along the path of wanderers. The material emerges from the earth, as if grown in place, mirroring the gritty, ever-changing nature surrounding it – dry and bright, then dark and moist.

It’s a chance to unleash our artistic vibes while enjoying the stunning surroundings. Ready to dive into some art-filled fun?
